Battle: classic or trendy?

I'm in a constant battle with my closet. I like to buy trendy clothes that don't necessarily cost very much, but the problem is there is a reason they are trends...because the styles don't last. Occasionally, I buy more classic pieces that I think I can wear for a long time, even if they cost a little more, but then I just don't feel as cute as I would in my $16 top from Forever 21.

When I think of classic style, the first celeb I think of is Jennifer Aniston. She seems to add a little flair to her outfits with fun accessories, so maybe that's a good solution...classic wardrobe pieces with fun jewelry, scarves, belts and shoes.
